The skies were blue, the water calm, the gray whales both plentiful and playful. What an incredible way to spend a day in the Baja, humbled by these whales who allow us to be in their presence. The lagoon at Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos hosts gray whale mommies (who migrated all the way from the Russian-Alaskan waters!) and their babies. Two hours with these gentle giants was both too short, and a lifetime.
After a huge seafood feast of lobster tail, halibut and shrimp, we made our way back "home" to Loreto to enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful Pueblo Magico! Tomorrow, we're off to Nayarit!

There's nothing like a sunny, turbulence-free day to fly to Mexico. It was a perfect flight from Sierra Vista down to the Hermosillo area, across Isla Tiburon, and south along the Sea of Cortez into beautiful Loreto. Cat Herder is enjoying a strong cup of coffee on the second-floor patio of La Mision hotel, watching the sun slowly make its appearance. After a maintenance hiccup with one of the Senecas, and l-e-n-g-t-h-y process getting through the airport paperwork, the gang enjoyed strolling this beautiful little town. We are heading over the other side of the Baja today, for a day of gray whale fun!
It's sure to be a sporadic week of posting on the blog and the Internet can be a bit challenging! Greetings from Sierra Vista, Arizona, which is experiencing an unusually HOT February (80 degrees or so, today). Since most of us just escaped the cold country (New York, Virginia, Minnesota, Michigan and Colorado), we're not complaining! The party officially starts today with Pilot Briefings at 3:00 followed by our Welcome Dinner--a fajita fiesta!
Stay tuned for more details from the trip. The South Dakota Department of Tourism wants everyone to know what George, Teddy, Abe and Tom have been up to this Valentine's Day. If you've been to Mount Rushmore--with or without Parkwest--you'll get a kick out of this "Monumental Love Story."
