Last night the Arctic Questers attended the Musher's Start and Draw Banquet, where each Yukon Quest musher draws for their starting position. We were able to meet a few mushers along the way, and tomorrow morning we'll be at the Race Start to send them off on the world's toughest sled race--1000 miles to Whitehorse, Yukon, a town well-known by Parkwest pilots who have flown to Alaska with us. Sharon got autographed shirts of Brent Sass, last year's champ, who hails from Minnesota. Chester and Suzanne were able to track down a fellow Mississippi State alum-turned-musher Seth Barnes, and also grabbed a snap with the 19 year-old rookie from Michigan, Laura Neese, who drew the Number 1 spot. You can read more here about the banquet in today's Daily News Miner. |
